Description

The Asian turquoise discus is one of the most beautiful tropical fish for a freshwater aquarium. The Asian turquoise discus is the result of cross breeding the naturally occurring green and blue discus until the desired shade of turquoise was achieved. The resulting blue green color is much more vivid than the colors of a natural discus. The Asian turquoise discus is solid turquoise, although the exact shade may vary as some are lighter than others. It has dark stress bars, but they are not as dark as the ones on natural discus. The body of the Asian turquoise discus is covered in long red striations that extend from just past its head to its tail fin. Its head also has a pattern of red striations. Both the pectoral fin and the dorsal fin of the Asian turquoise discus are covered with the same red striations, and its tail fin is opaque.

Discus are known for their size and their rounded bodies. The Asian turquoise discus reaches about 8” at maturity, and it is almost as tall as it is long. Its dorsal and pectoral fins extend almost back to its tail fin, which contributes to its round appearance. The Asian turquoise discus is one of the most popular cultivated discus, and it is one of the first discus varieties to be cultivated for aquariums. This sea green stunner is a great showpiece for an aquarium, and since it has been cultivated rather than coming from the wild, it is much easier to care for than the naturally occurring discus.

    High quality fish

I got this fish in a mixed group If discus. Came in incredible shape and health. Took to foods immediately and had no issues settling into the aquarium. A real impressive fish, look forward to how it grows and develops.

Arrive alive and some tattered fins, doing well over a week later now. Can't wait to see what he/she looks like when it matures!

    Another great Discus

Posted by Unknown on 23rd May 2017

This one along with an ocean green completed the variety of colors we were searching for. Although the green/turquoise color is not dominant at this age it's obvious this one is going to be one of our favorites. I like the slightly visible stress stripes and if they get darker that's a bonus. The red striations on the anal fin are already visible. It arrived ready to explore the new aquarium, no laying on the bottom and had a healthy appetite that evening. It has acclimated very well around our larger discus. I see another aquarium in our future....and the discus will come from Macs
